Marriage Parikara Sthalam
Main Deity Names: Lord Kalyanasundareswarar (Moolavar) and Goddess Kokilambal.
Temple History: Thirumanancheri is the foremost Parihara Sthalam for marriage. According to the Sthala Purana, Goddess Parvati performed penance to marry Lord Shiva. Pleased by her devotion, Lord Shiva appeared here and married her in his wedding form as Kalyanasundareswarar. The name "Thirumanancheri" literally means "the village of marriage" (Thirumanam = Marriage, Cheri = Village).
Speciality: This is the sacred site where the divine wedding of Shiva and Parvati took place. It is a Paadal Petra Sthalam, sung by the Nayanmars.
Rituals: Devotees perform the Thirumana Prarthanai. You must purchase a pooja set containing two garlands, lemons, and a yellow thread. After the Archana, the priest gives you one garland and the yellow thread.
Parikaram & How to do: You must wear the garland while circumambulating the inner shrine. After reaching home, keep the garland and yellow thread in your pooja room. Once the marriage is fixed and completed, the couple must return together, perform a thanksgiving pooja, and drop the old garlands in the temple.
